Details
Vogue dancing, or voguing, is an expressive and highly stylized dance form that emerged from the Harlem ballroom scene in the 1980s. Known for its dramatic and angular poses, precise hand movements, and fluid floorwork, vogue dancing draws inspiration from fashion magazine poses and high-fashion runway walks. It encompasses several styles, including Old Way, New Way, and Vogue Femme, each with its unique techniques and flair. Voguing is performed to house and electronic music, often featuring bold beats and catchy rhythms. This dance form celebrates individuality, creativity, and self-expression, making it a powerful medium for storytelling and personal empowerment. Whether performed in ballroom competitions or on stage, vogue dancing captivates audiences with its dynamic energy and fierce attitude. Vogue Mondays are back with an beginner level class covering the 5 elements of Vogue and have those elements supplemented with the history of vogue and ballroom. This progressive cycle class will reset each month, starting with history/technique to build into improvisation and performance exercises. Expectations: No heels necessary, wear comfy clothing and knee pads if needed.
